REPORT - "Farming Takes Forever. . ."

Farming, however helpful, takes forever. In survival mode, it is my understanding that not all of us have that long. And, once the livestock around you runs out, there is nothing left. So what can you do? Well, you have a couple of options:

  • If you are playing survival mode, you can just switch the level of difficulty until you have access to food more. Peaceful is like breaktime where you can recooperate and gain the necessary foods and resources to survive longer in a more difficult mode.

  • If you don't have that option (for all you hardcore gamers out there) you really have nothing left to lose! Start planting, and go out to kill some skeletons. Harvest the bones they give off, and craft that into bone meal. Once you have that, apply it to the plants growing, and you will have a field of wheat in no time! (NOTE: you can do this with pumpkin seeds and melon seeds too, but the process takes much longer because it boosts their growth rate to the second to last part of the cycle.)

  • If you are playing either of these and the two other options don't exist, travel to other places and seek out other forms of food. You might even want to consider setting up shop in another place if the original plan didn't work out so well.
All of these options are available to you! It is highly recommended that while you are chopping down trees 'till the cows come home, you start making a fence and starting gathering the local wildlife. Chickens, cows, and sheep are of great use to you. Pigs just produce meat, so you may not want to bother them at all. Sheep may not even be a large consideration - once you have the wool to make a bed, they are no longer important to your survival unless you insist on interior decorating.
